Tuition is non refundable, non transferable between dancers, and not credited due to missed or dropped classes. Dancers ARE permitted to transfer from one class to another without fees.

Class Descriptions & Attire Requirements

Broadway Lights Theatre Camp Ages 10-18
A week-long day camp that features classes focusing on the aspects of Musical Theatre. Classes include: Voice, Makeup/Hair/Costuming, Intro. to Musical Theatre History, Intro. to Stage Direction, Lighting & Set Design, Auditioning Tips, Monologue, Modeling/Headshots, Intro. to Sound Editing, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Improv, Partnering/Swing/Salsa, Choreography. Guest Teachers include: Ricky Vitanovec, Masters in Theatre, EMS Theatre Department Director, EHS Drama Club Director, Amanda Showell, Owner of Dancing on the Shore, Professional Ballroom Instructor and more TBA after confirmation. Camp t-shirt is included. Comfortable, athletic attire required. Barefeet or tennis shoes necessary for most classes. Students must bring a bag lunch, water & a snack Monday thru Thursday. A pizza party is included for Friday afternoon.

Company Summer Dance Camp Ages 10-18
Our Dance Company members are required to participate in this summer camp to keep their muscles trained throughout the summer.  Each class will begin with a technical warm-up in ballet, modern, or jazz.  The remaining class time will be used to begin work on the Company group choreography for the 2010 performance season, including preparation for the Summerfest Parade, Md Council Dance Festival and our holiday parades. Teacher Approval Required.

Creative Movement/Basic Tumbling Ages 5-9
An introduction to the world of dance & movement.  Dancers will explore ballet, modern & jazz movement, imaginative games will be played and basic tumbling will be taught. Dance attire and ballet shoes or barefeet are required. A low ponytail, pigtails or a braid is suggested.

Express Yourself Ages 10-18
The focus of this afternoon camp will be to increase self-esteem, reduce stress and learn to express your inner feelings through the creative outlet of dance. This class will include the dance styles of Modern, Jazz, Ballet and Lyrical. Improvisation & the fundamentals of choreography will be explored. We will also have a few speakers on self-esteem, stress and nutrition. Comfortable, athletic attire required. Barefeet recommended. Students are encouraged to bring water.

Imagination Week I - Cinderella Ages 3-7
This class will venture into the world of ballet through one of its many stories.  The story for Imagination Week I will be "Cinderella."  We will watch excerpts from the ballet, learn basic ballet steps and vocabulary, explore theatre, character & modern dance, participate in a craft project and finish the class with a brief performance of our own ballet dance.  Ballet attire is suggested.  Hair must be pulled back out of face.

Pirouette Club - Jungle Safari Ages 3-7
The theme for our summer session of the Pirouette Club is "Jungle Safari."  We will work on small and large motor skills while learning basic ballet and creative movement.  We will also learn a short dance to be performed at the end of our last class.  Little dancers will be able to make a craft project and hear stories & facts about the jungle.  Dancers should wear comfortable athletic attire, have hair pulled back out of face and be barefoot.

Summer Ballet Ages 9-18
Classical ballet is a beautiful and theatrical form of dance and is the basis of almost every type of dance. This class assists with balance, body placement, turnout, flexibility and alignment in dance. French terminology is taught on all levels.  A combination of ballet techniques such as, Cecchetti, Vaganova and RAD is taught.  Any color Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Split Sole Leather or Canvas Ballet Slippers, Hair must be pulled into a bun, bangs pinned out of face.

Summer Ballet/Tap Combo Ages 5-9
This class introduces the young dancer to tap as well as increases their coordination and technique in ballet. A bit more serious then creative movement - but still a lot of fun. Athletic or Dance Attire, Pink Leather Ballet Slippers, Black Buckle Tap Shoes, tights or thin socks. Hair must be up in ponytails, braids or a bun.

Summer Hippity Hop Ages 5-9
Dancers will enjoy learning the basic movement & vocabulary behind Hip Hop dance on an age appropriate scale.  A fun, high energy class!  Dance attire and clean tennis shoes or jazz sneakers required.  Hair should be up in ponytails, braids or buns. Class meets Tuesdays, Thursdays or both for six weeks.

Summer Pointe Ages 12-18
Pointe is a class focusing directly on exercises to prepare students for going on pointe. Dancers will be put through a vigorous barre routine to strengthen the muscles necessary to dance in pointe shoes. Dancers must also be registered in Summer Ballet. Teacher & Doctor Approval Needed. Any color Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Leather or Canvas Split-Sole Ballet Slippers (Pointe Shoes will be needed at different times depending on ability). Hair must be in a bun, no bangs.
